MINNEAPOLIS -- Target Corp. customers can find a growing number of upscale, exclusive selections from well-known designers in clothing and other product categories in the company's stores and on its web site.
T8 LED Tube T8-600mmThe upscale brands include: Michael Graves Design--housewares, games and home furnishings; Liz Lange--maternity clothing; Mossimo--handbags and women's and men's clothing; Sonia Kashuk--cosmetics, brushes and fragrances; and Isaac Mizrahi--dresses, jackets, sweaters and footwear.
Volume in the latter line has been strong, noted Gregg Steinhafel, president of Target Stores, during the company's third quarter conference call last November. That strength may be partly due to two events that took place in New York City's borough of Manhattan in the past two years.
Juicy Couture EarringsIn the fall of 2003 Target opened a shop for about two months in Manhattan's upscale Rockefeller Center that show-cased the Issac Mizrahi for Target line of women's apparel and accessories. And in June 2004 the retailer held a fashion show in Manhattan for both the Isaac Mizrahi for Target and Isaac Mizrahi New York collections.
Later this year the Michael Graves Design collection, which has been at Target since 1998, will get its first luggage set. The idea for the merchandise came from a Target customer--Nick Stephens of Provo, Utah. His proposal made him the winner of the Michael Graves Design Contest that was created last year to get suggestions for "the next great product" for the collection. Stephens' winning concept stated:
embroidered patches "On a trip in the air, people stop and stare. They're not looking at me, it's my luggage they see."
